I just wanted to briefly talk about some media I've been consuming these last two days:
REA(L)OVE is this Japanese reality show that's on Netflix. The general premise is that it's a dating show where all of the contestants have "dark secrets" that get revealed one by one throughout the show. The male host makes it annoying to watch because he slut-shames the hell out of some of the contestants. There's this annoying double standard in society where if a guy has lots of sexual partners, it's not nearly as damning as when a girl does. It's lauded, even, at times! This definitely comes out in the show, as this one guy whose secret is that he's had sex with 150+ different women totally looks down on this one woman whose secret is that she's been in 10 different relationships with pro athletes. Lame! Maybe that's something that develops more throughout their time together, though.
I'd like to see some more empathy, but I do understand that Japan's cultural values are different from ours. It's an interesting concept and feels more like a psychology experiment than a dating show.
Code: Realize ~Future Blessings~ is the sequel/fandisc to the original Code: Realize game. I got it when it first came out, but only just had time to play through a route. I was intrigued by the addition of a Finis route so even though I didn't really like him much in the first game, I decided to go for it. It was heartwarming and had
some poignant things to say about what it means to be human. I've never been a huge Finis fan because his character reminds me of Kaoru from Hakuouki while he just sounds and acts like Kanato from Diabolik Lovers. The role is a bit same hat for Kaji Yuuki, but he definitely does it well.
I'm probably going to go for Saint-Germain next! I'm not sure about after that, though I will probably leave Lupin for last.
I've been progressing on Without a Voice. The main scenario drafts are done now, so I've been taking a break from writing to code in expressions and animations. Finishing the main scenario was my goal for this month, so I can take it a little easy until next month. I just have the last scene and a half for Shuye's route, as well as a bit of MerMay stuff. I managed to finish my 200 Word RPG Challenge entry, which I'm pretty happy about, too. I will end up being over my projected word count. I'd better estimate better next time~
The month's almost over! It's time for the final stretch, to get done all the things you wanted to do but didn't get around to yet. The end of a month is always
a little stressful. I feel as if May only just started and now it's over!
...I've also just realized that I forgot the newsletter again. Oh man. Why am I so bad at remembering to do that newsletter? Has a whole week already gone by since the last? I cannot believe it! I may need to work on that concept more.
